Mixcloud Aims to Become “YouTube of Radio”

Mixcloud, an online radio site, which aims to be the "YouTube of radio," has just launched to the public. The site, which is based in London, aims to make radio more social, personal, and democratic. The public is taking notice. Mixcloud is already creating a lot of buzz, and has made the trending topics on Twitter.

YouTube's Content ID system appears to have caught on in a big way.  This afternoon, a senior product manager stated that over 1,000 content owners now make use of it, and that they've provided more than 1 million reference files containing about 100,000 hours' worth of material.

It looks like Conan O'Brien's imaginary YouTwitFace site is coming one step closer to reality.  Last night, YouTube announced that it's introducing a new "You may know these people" feature, which of course sounds quite similar to Facebook's "People you may know" offering. 

YouTube UK To Bring Music Videos Back

Following a blackout period of about six months, music videos are set to make their return to YouTube UK.  YouTube's worked out an agreement with PRS for Music, a trade body that collects royalties and at one point asked to be paid about 0.36 cents each time a clip was played.

According to a fresh report, YouTube is in talks with some of Hollywood's biggest movie studios to make more new releases available through the site.  What might be problematic in many users' eyes is that YouTube and the movie studios are also weighing the idea of charging a rental fee for access.
