A group of 16 major IT and mobile companies have united behind a GSMA-led initiative to promote mobile broadband.The companies include Dell, Ericsson, Lenovo, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Toshiba and Vodafone. The group's goal is to help people easily identify laptops that have built in access to the Internet via high-speed networks. The marketing initiative is worth more than $1 billion over the next year.The group will label laptop computers that meet their standards for mobile broadband access with a badge that identifies the laptops as ready for mobile broadband connections.

Mozilla, the makers of Firefox internet browser (the only notable competitor to Microsoft's Internet Explorer), has extended its deal with Google - meaning the search giant will continue to be the default search engine on all its Firefox installs until 2011.

Conservative Instapundit blogger Glenn Reynolds did the unthinkable today: He agreed with a liberal, which is likely against stricter interpretations of The Conservative Thought Bubble Creed (Hannity, Defense Against Liberal Arts, pg. 1).  Worse, the liberal is employed by MoveOn.org, with whom agreement is punishable by excommunication and revocation of golf club membership (Limbaugh, chapters 7 and 11, El Rushbo's Guide To Neo-Conduct).

The opportunity to improve a site's search experience should never be passed up.  The opportunity to make money should be absolutely lunged at.  So since the development should create both, site owners are almost guaranteed to be happy that AdSense for Search is now powered by Custom Search.

Have you ever watched a herd of buffalo or deer?Ever seen hundreds of small fish school together and move in one fluid movement? As you may already know, they do that in order to protect themselves from a single large predator. It often works, as the predator will mistakenly believe the prey is too large to consume, or get’s blocked out by a massive wall of bodies.

A little while back I did a post titled: SEOs Must Work Closely with Development. The basic thesis of the post was that neither of these parties can work without close communication with each other. Ultimately, this is critical to the success of the site. One reader (named “alla”) wrote in suggesting that this is a 2 way street, and that there are other parties involved.

With no disrespect to any particular anchor or employee, ABC News just isn’t one of my favorite entities.  It wasn’t overly disappointing, then, to learn that a joint venture with Facebook has thus far failed to gained traction or generate traffic.
