Universal Strikes Deal With Wolfgang
If you are a fan of classic rock then you will be glad to know that music and memorabilia site Wolfgang's Vault has struck a deal with Universal Music Group to make available vintage concert performances from artists such as The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley.The addition of the acts will join the nearly 500 recordings currently available for download purchase at the site. The recordings include live performances from thousands of concerts produced by late promoter Bill Graham, along with classics from other catalogs going back decades.

The music industry has had a lot of shakeups recently, and here’s yet another. Social media community imeem has signed a licensing deal with Universal Music group, the largest music label in the music industry. Now you can listen to Universal’s streaming music and watch videos free. Rather than make money on the music, they show ads and split ad revenues. This isn’t a new model, of course and I wonder what the artists make from it.

73,000 United Auto Workers at 82 plants walked off their General Motors jobs and launched the first strike against GM in many years.
The action came as a surprise to many workers, according to a USA Today report, which noted some workers were “unnerved and are welling to make some concessions to help GM cut costs.”
