A recent study from comScore on the global traffic to online properties in the U.K. found that online traffic coming from outside the U.K. outnumbered the domestic visitors to the BBC, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times and The Daily Mail.

Everyone’s Internet connection goes a little bit wonky from time to time, and after having trouble reaching Yahoo.com, I thought this morning was one of those times for me.  But I was wrong; it turns out that Yahoo was having issues.

comScore Networks, a digital measuring firm has released a report on the top Web properties for December, ranked by unique visitors and who the biggest gainers were for 2006. Worldwide Internet usage increased 10 percent from December 2005 to December 2006. In the search category the top three sites that have the largest global audience grew 9 percent. Google the number two site worldwide increased visitors to their site by 13 percent.

comScore released a list of the top fifteen Web properties earlier today, and there are some very familiar search-related names in the first three positions. Microsoft's sites lead the way, with both Yahoo and Google trailing behind, according to these September rankings.

When companies acquire properties, they usually either change the name to fit their brand, or they let the acquired properties operate under the original name. This allowed the acquired property to keep the name recognition that came it.
