Americans Favor Businesses With A Social Media Presence
More than half (60%) of Americans interact with companies on a social media Web site, and one in four interact more than once a week, according to a new study by Cone LLC on social media.The majority (93%) of Americans believe a company should have a presence in social media, while 85 percent believe a company should not only have a social media presence but also interact with its customers via social media.

The Internet plays an increasingly essential role in retail for brick and mortar retailers, even for purchases made in-store according to a new survey from Nielsen Online.People who had recently made consumer electronics purchases in a brick and mortar store, 80 percent bought from a store whose Web site they visited first. In addition 53 percent purchased from a retailer on whose Web site they had spent the most time.

Murdoch Would Bolster WSJ’s Digital Presence
The letter has it all - bold print, bullet points, and italics. It’s 1,200 words long. And it’s signed by billionaire Rupert Murdoch. That’s right - Murdoch’s most recent communication regarding a Dow Jones takeover has been published by The Wall Street Journal, a Dow Jones property.
Which may not have been what the billionaire intended. “We are disappointed, as I imagine you are, that the details of our proposal and the discussion of the merits of a potential combination have become a matter of public debate,” he wrote to the Bancroft family (which owns Dow Jones). Yet the letter was unfailingly courteous, and modesty ruled the day.
