A lot of things have prevented mobile advertising from becoming widespread; think phone tech, consumers' reactions, and advertisers' reluctance, to name a few. Now, it looks like the list has grown longer, as the Center for Digital Democracy and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group have sent the FTC a formal complaint.

Net Neutrality Groups Press FCC
Free Press, the organization behind SaveTheInternet.com, responded to the Federal Communications Commission's expressed intent to investigate Comcast and Verizon Wireless over alleged content blocking. The group urged the FCC to respond quickly in order to protect the free flow of information on all networks.

Coalition Groups Call For Open Mobile Access
Mobile Internet access is being hailed as the next great revolution as an estimated 3 billion handheld devices are sold (about 38 per second). Comparatively, less than half that number have fixed, wired connections. But universal access advocates warn that half of the world (or at least the ones in the United States) will not enjoy all the Internet has to offer.

A growing trend in the online world and social media in general is the proliferation of social groups and networks that are taking their services and members offline. Businesses like Yelp, Biznik and many others are looking for ways to maintain their user base and gain new customers.
In some cases the company holds sanctioned events and group networking meetings, but members often take it upon themselves to set up networking events. This is slowly creating more tight knit communities that are great for meeting people for general purposes and for networking.
