Yahoo has introduced a new version of the Yahoo Toolbar today. It runs on Internet Explorer 6+ and Firefox (as a beta). "The new Yahoo! Toolbar now offers greater customization and more immediate access to the information you care about most from across the entire web – not just Yahoo! sites," says Burke Culligan, Senior Director of Yahoo Front Doors.  

AT&T said today it would upgrade its 3G network to offer considerably faster mobile broadband speeds. The network upgrades will begin later this year and be completed in 2011. AT&T said it would expand its 3G mobile broadband network from 350 metropolitan areas to about 370 by the end of 2009. The expansion will be covered by its previously announced capital expenditure budget of $17 billion to $18 billion for the year.

Comcast said today that it has launched its wideband Internet service in four more markets including Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore and Ft. Wayne, Indiana.Lynsey Silvesti, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, Comcast, told Murdok that the roll out brings the company to its goal of reaching 10 major markets this year.

Comcast said today that it will begin rolling out ultra fast Internet service in some of its larger markets and will offer faster connections to all of its subscribers over the next two years.The company said it will introduce its wideband Docsis 3.0 in the Boston region, Southern New Hampshire, as well as areas of Philadelphia and New Jersey. Comcast said it plans to continue to introduce its wideband in more than 10 major markets in the next several months.

Local advertising will increase by 13 percent from 2007 to 2012,faster than online advertising as a whole, which will see 12 percent growth during the same period according to a JupiterResearch report, "US Online Local Advertising Forecast, 2007-2012."

Adobe released a Service Pack last week that enhances its Acrobat Connect and Acrobat Connect Professional web conferencing software. Service packs are often reserved for applying critical bug fixes between formal product releases, and while Service Pack 3 includes some bug fixes, Adobe is touting the upgrade as a major functional improvement to Connect.
