As part of the shakeup that ousted co-founder Chris DeWolfe and ushered in former Project Playlist and Facebook's Owen Van Natta as the new CEO, MySpace has expanded its management team with two key hires. Michael Jones who comes from Userplane and AOL has been named Chief Operating Officer and Jason Hirschhorn joins as Chief Product Officer after a stints at Sling Media and MTV Networks. Google launched limited beta testing of a new AdWords campaign management interface back in November. At first it was only available to a limited number of US advertisers. Now the company has expanded the testing to more US advertisers as well as advertisers in the UK and Australia.

If fortune favors the bold, Friendster is pretty much guaranteed to experience all sorts of success.  The social network has decided to defy economic trends by opening new offices in two different countries, and is also putting its media pull to the test by placing the announcement up against inauguration coverage.

There are all sorts of stories about friendships that were formed despite language barriers, and let's not forget that many people have learned how to speak English even if it's not their native tongue.  But FriendFeed has taken a step towards accommodating current members and recruiting new ones by launching six new language interfaces today.

As mentioned previously, Google is spending a lot of time "in the clouds" so to sepak. They've been emphasizing cloud computing a lot lately, even going so far as to make a 99.9% guarantee with regarding to up-time for Google Apps.

Google announced that they have expanded the Google Gears Geolocation API to include WiFi compatibility. Previously, it was only available for mobile phones. It is set up so that applications using the API can find WiFi networks within 200m.

It's a teensy bit ironic that the first overseas launch of Google's Street View related to the Tour de France.  Street View now appears to be holding a speed trial of its own, you see, with images of Australia, Japan, and over 30 American cities getting released yesterday evening.

In a move to significantly expand the reach of its network, Ask.com has just acquired the Lexico Publishing Group, owners of dictionary.com, thesaurus.com and reference.com
