Intel Gets Behind Facebook Developer Garages

Take it from a car guy: the people who are willing to spend time with you in a garage are some of the finest individuals you'll ever know.  And so it seems Facebook has a new BFF, as Intel will sponsor some Facebook Developer Garages this year. 

Android Developer Challenge Concludes

The Android Developer Challenge has ended, and there's no doubt that it worked out well for developers - ten teams each received $275,000 awards and another ten got $100,000 apiece.  Things seem to be headed in the right direction for Android users, too.

Fire Eagle Makes Friends During Developer Evening

Any event that involves free pizza and beer can't be bad, but a recent Yahoo-sponsored get-together seemed especially successful, and this could bode well for the company's location-based Fire Eagle service.

May 28th and May 29th appear to be pretty quiet days - on a national level, there shouldn't be any major events or holidays.  So, although we know not everyone will be able to attend, Google seems to have picked a good period in which to hold a developer gathering.

Yahoo Unveils Mobile Developer Platform

OK, forget what we said about 2007 being the year for mobile content. 2008 is where the mobile action is at! Hot on the heels of Google’s Android initiative, Yahoo is announcing its own developer platform. The Yahoo! Google created a video showcasing Android, the Google-initiated, Linux-based open source mobile operating system being backed by the recently announced – and again Google-initiated – Open Handset Alliance.
