Here’s a site destined for greatness and future abuse: SpinSpotter, now in “very” beta, and their Spinoculars toolbar. Tired of the liberal media being in the tank for Obama? Maybe you’re sick of the corporate media suppressing important news about their in-the-pocket Republicans. Or maybe you see how the 24/7 news cycle has turned once diligent and tenacious journalists into copy-and-paste-and-post PR hacks.

The Association of National Advertisers is pretty important; its members have spent over $100 billion on marketing-related efforts.  Unfortunately for Google and Yahoo, the ANA isn't supporting their search advertising deal, and has instead expressed its objections in a letter to the Department of Justice.

Quebec's open source organization Facil is suing the province's government for spending millions of dollars on Microsoft software, and never entertaining the idea of using anything open source. The problem here is that there is no room for competition  because the government automatically goes to Microsoft.

Mobile this and mobile that - the news about Google and cell phone-related stuff just won't stop.  Consumers should benefit, however, as Google is now asking the security community to make sure its Android operating system remains safe.

The launch of Healia Communities adds to a growing mix of sites all aimed at providing a common ground for people, ailments, and the ability to connect with others online.

Danny Sullivan (a.k.a. The Godfather to those of us in the SEO realm) messed up, kind of. In a post he OK's for the Search Engine Land a couple days ago titled, "Get A Free Link From Wired" they basically outline how to get yourself a free link on the wired.com site. I especially love the "don't be too evil" note which implies that some amount of evil is OK.

This post is in memory of Marc Orchant, an amazing friend, father, and geek, whom I will miss dearly. Marc was supposed to participate in this discussion. His unexpected passing has us all devastated. Our prayers and support are with his family.
