Boeing reported a decrease of 7% in its second-quarter profits, but this was higher than analysts expected. The company raised its earnings outlook for the entire year.

The Boeing Company announced on Thursday they elected W. James McNerney chairman of the board, president and CEO effective on Friday, July 1. The former 3M chief comes to Boeing after recent tough times for the aircraft giant. McNerney will make the third CEO since 2003.

Boeing announced that it has elected W. James McNerney, Jr. to be the company's President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board, as of July 1.

Airbus and Boeing run a high stakes dogfight in the skies as each competes for sale in the competitive airline industry. Airbus has flown in behind Boeing and has the U.S. manufacturer on the run after picking up a $6 billion, 100 aircraft order with a new low cost airline in India.

Airbus has now surpassed Boeing in plane orders for this year now that Interglobe Enterprises airline IndiGo has ordered 100 of their A320 planes.
