Publishers Will Become Interactive Media Artists

Books Are Losing Relevancy Google and Amazon are both pushing to sell ebooks directly aggressively. An article in the NYT mentions a new device Amazon will offer for reading ebooks, but I don't think the problem with books and ebooks is that they need a better reader. Google now allows you to embed book pasages directly in web pages.

How Google, YouTube Hosed Artists

Mark Cuban has been as compelling to follow in the tech world as he has been during the NBA season, and his latest find from a trusted source in digital media illustrated the continued struggle artists have with the organizations that ostensibly represent their interests.

The Pickup Artists of Networking

Spend too much time in the world of superlinked social site users, and they start to look like the seedy pickup artists in last year's book The Game.

Blogging For Artists

Dilbert creator Scott Adams has put out the call on his blog for comic strip artists; no, not for Dilbert, but for another comic strip he wants to see succeed.

Chimp Makes Monkeys of Abstract Artists

Next month, the swift gabble of a London art auctioneer will peddle out the classic workings of Renoir, Warhol, and Congo the Chimpanzee. The sound of crickets chirping enters the newsroom.

An Artists Viewpoint on the Misuse of Website Color!

Having taught in Art College for 15 years as well as exhibiting and having paintings displayed in public collections in the UK, I read with great interest the article recently submitted by Charlene Rashkow titled "Color and its Influence on Marketability." As an artist, I revel in color and its power and only have to sit in front of a Monet to realize the powerful emotional tug color can have. This very power makes the misuse of color an abuse to the viewer, which means that professional designers are often guilty of color misapplication.

WebSite Marketing for Artists

I do have a "dental-floss" budget idea or two, but they might be geared more towards artist types than tech types. 🙂 1- Hobby Lobby stores often have classroom space for little to no cost. Take one night a week to teach a creative class of some kind there. Incorporate some of the classwork into special pages of the website for students to do during the week, which will not only increase your traffic, but it can also give your site a more "legitimate/professional" edge. This costs you little to nothing, and in some cases, you can charge for the classes you teach. (Wow! getting paid to advertise your site! 🙂 )
