WLMD Coming This Month Maybe

The Windows Live Mail Desktop team blog indicates that they are in the final stretch before a major beta release, moving close to what Microsoft calls ZBB.

ZBB is Zero Bug Bounce, a time when there are no bugs left older than 48 hours, and they’re indicating that they’re working hard, extra hours to reach ZBB in time for ship date.

From the post:

We’re working towards our May release and for the past 2 weeks, everyone here has been working extra hours towards ZBB the team decided on a ship date months ago and that date is just right around the corner. We’re at point where we have to decide if a bug must be fixed in this release or if can be fixed for the next release. At the end of this week, no developer can have ANY bugs to fix for the release. This is incredibly stressful for everyone involved because we want to deliver the highest quality product before our deadline.

It could just mean another private beta version, but all rumblings seem to be pointing towards things coming to a head near the end of this month. I think we’ll all get a chance to try WLMD, or it’ll at least go invite-onle, before June 1.

The user interface has been taken up a notch, and looks great, I might add.
