Weblogs Inc. Launches Adventure Travel Blog

Weblogs, Inc. launched their 60th Weblog-Gadling, an engaged’ travel Weblog for people who like to be active – both physically and mentally – when they travel.

“I wanted to do something that was a little more than just adventure travel, so I came up with the term ‘engaged travel’ which means pure adrenaline travel plus intellectually adventurous travel,” explains Weblogs, Inc. co-founder Jason McCabe Calacanis.

According to Calacanis, this would include “folks who take a cooking class in Italy, as well as a person who climbs Mount Everest”

Gadling is launching with two fully ‘engaged’ bloggers. Erik Olsen is a freelance journalist with over 10 years in TV, Web and print journalism at ABC News where he was an associate field producer for Primetime Thursday and Managing Producer of Special Projects for ABC News.com. Olson says “We’ll also be appealing to people who kayak, climb, trek, mountain bike, scuba, etcetera – those who like to learn when they go, to be engaged. These are people who also take cooking classes in Florence, study art history in Paris, and get excited about amateur archeology in Cairo.” Olsen, an avid outdoorsman, has also written on adventure travel for numerous publications including The Los Angeles Times, MSNBC.com and ABC News.com.

Sabrina Dent is a professional columnist and travel writer. An American ex-pat living in London, she is also an enthusiastic European traveler, independent hotel connoisseur, and a certified rescue diver with dives around the US, Europe and the Caribbean in her logbook. “Gadling visitors will be looking for a more intense and personal vacation experience,” she adds, “whether that means an eco-retreat in Costa Rica, a week at skydiving school in Arizona, or volunteering to build schools with a community in Sri Lanka.” Her adventures have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, and she maintains a popular online travelogue in her spare time.
