Kevin needs to have his links consistent on each and every page. On some of the pages his categories are not there. I had to back page a long while to get back to it.
Couldn’t he have a navigation-link bar on the left of each page including his shopping basket/item in stock page? If something is out of stock, take it off the page. On the page with batteries in the cordless tools category, the batteries are in order by brand and not type. I would reorganize them so all 9.6 V with different brands were all in one group, plus I would put the price on that first page. This would eliminate the need for the links to each voltage that he has on the left and have his main category links there. They can then click on the picture for detailed product information or just put it in the basket.
The prompt to click on the picture is to see if it is in stock should be changed to detailed information and stock info. I think that the product info is the more important reason to click on the picture. A lot of his pages dead-end themselves by not having his category link box on the left of each page. His site has a lot of products, which makes it a more difficult task. I am sure his navigation layout will be a major fix but well appreciated. Shared borders would fix most of this. I think I would also reorganize his main category link box. Policy page should have the shipping restrictions on it regarding AK and HI. It is on the help page. If you feel it needs to be on the help page, it is ok to also have it on the policy page near the top in fact. In reorganizing his categories, put about us or a link to the home page on the top and continue with policies, tools, Hot list, (renamed to what it is, best sellers?), Concrete tools, conduit benders (Greenlee), Cordless tools, Safety Equipment, Package deals, Clearance items, testimonials, manufacturers, careers links.
I would also redo his about us page to eliminate some links. The three stores, maps, address and numbers phone should be right on the front page of contact us. You could make the maps a link and delete them from that page to have more room. Change “sales” link to “email us”. Do separate stores have their own email addresses?
Kevin’s site has tons of stuff. I wish him luck.
