Tiger Woods has won The Masters in Augusta for the fourth time in eight years. This is Tiger’s 9th major-tournament victory.

Here are some other interesting facts about Tiger Woods:

  1. Born Eldrick Tiger Woods on December 30, 1975, Tiger was nicknamed after a Vietnamese soldier, a friend of his father’s in Vietnam.
  2. At the ripe old age of two, Tiger putted against Bob Hope on the Mike Douglas Show, shot 48 for nine holes at age three, and was featured in Golf Digest at age five.
  3. Once so “geeky,” Tiger’s college friends nicknamed him “Urkel.”
  4. After winning the British Open in 2000, Tiger became the youngest player to complete golf’s Grand Slam (winning all four “majors” including the U.S. Open Championship, the British Open, the PGA Championship and the Masters Tournament).
  5. Tiger Woods believes in the teachings of Buddhism.
  6. Tiger Woods was 11-months old when he first started swinging a sawed off golf club in his garage.
  7. Tiger Woods underwent successful laser eye surgery in 1999. He no longer needs to wear glasses or contacts.
  8. Tiger Woods’ mother hand made his club head cover. The words “Love from Mom”, in Thai, are stitched on it.
  9. Tiger Woods always wears the color red on the final day of the tournament, because his mother feels that it’s a lucky and “power color” for him.
  10. He requires only about four or five hours of sleep a night.
  11. Tiger was born Eldrick Woods on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California.
  12. One of only eight athletes to be named a Wheaties permanent rep.
  13. Was a cumulative 53 under par in the 2000 majors.
