The Best Beer In the World

I’m sure this story has got a definite business side. RateBeer.com has recently released the results of an intensive study covering 65 countries. In this study, they asked the participants to rate the best beers in the world. According to the press release, some of the judges involved have literally thousands of tastings to their credit. How do I become a judge for this study?

Ratebeer rated the top 100 beers, the brewer, and the country they were from. They broke down their list based on beer type: bachs, stouts, ales, etc. There were a number of interesting details in the listings.

The Best Beer In the World Some may find it interesting that no major brewing company made it into the top 100 list. The vast majority were smaller breweries or microbreweries from all over the world.

The top ten is as follows:

1. AleSmith Brewing Company San Diego California U.S.
2. Three Floyds Brewing Company Munster Indiana U.S.
3. Stone Brewing Co. San Marcos California U.S.
4. Westvleteren Abdij St. Sixtus Westvleteren Belgium
5. Hair of the Dog Brewing Company, Inc. Portland Oregon U.S.
6. De Dolle Brouwers Diksmuide Belgium
7. Kalamazoo Brewing Company Kalamazoo Michigan U.S.
8. Pizza Port (Solana Beach) Solana Beach California U.S.
9. Dogfish Head Brewery Milton Delaware U.S.
10. Fuller, Smith & Turner London England

There was another table breaking it down by various categories of beers. They also provided listings based on the country. This list is sure to stir national pride as the U.S. completely dominated the top 100. Germany, a traditional beer brewing country, didn’t get into the list until number 38 with Ayinger. Belgium had 3 in the top 10 and England had one.

This list is fine and dandy but in reality, there are only 4 different types of beer. The very best beer in the world is cold beer someone else bought. The next type of beer is cold beer you bought. Then we move to warm beer someone else bought and finally, warm beer you bought is the absolute worst beer in the world. Those are the only four types of beer in the world.
