Taser Shares Go Up After Orders From Police

Taser International has recieved three follow-on orders for TASER X26 devices and an initial international order.

The orders have sent shares up more than 10%.

The El Paso Police Department, Pima County Sheriff’s Department and an unnamed agency placed follow-on orders for TASER X26 devices. An initial order for TASER technology came from the Singapore National Police Force.

The El Paso Police Department in Texas placed an order for 124 TASER X26 devices. This order will supplement the 500 TASER devices currently deployed by the El Paso Police Department.

“I am very pleased we have the ability to purchase these additional TASERs for our officers,” said El Paso Police Chief Richard Wiles. “They are the tools necessary for modern policing and help reduce injuries to officers, suspects and citizens,” concluded Chief Wiles.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona placed an order for 140 TASER X26 devices which brings the total number of TASER X26 devices to 485. With this recent order, every commissioned Pima County deputy will carry a TASER X26 device as standard issue equipment.

“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has had tremendous success in the deployment of TASER devices. We feel it is a lifesaving tool and has, in fact, saved many lives over the past few years in Pima County,” said Lt. Don Kester of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition, TASER International also received another substantial follow on order for TASER X26 devices from another agency. The amount of the order was approximately $307,000.

The Singapore Police Force, which is the official law enforcement agency for the Republic of Singapore, placed an initial order for 126 TASER X26 devices and accessories.

“We are excited to see follow on orders for TASER technology from these large law enforcement agencies that have been deploying TASER technology in the field,” said Rick Smith, CEO of TASER International. “We continue to see that TASER technology is helping to keep the brave men and women of law enforcement safe by reducing injuries and saving lives every day,” continued Mr. Smith.

“We are also very encouraged that after extensive research, the Singapore Police Force has ordered TASER devices to provide for law enforcement officers in the Republic of Singapore, continued Mr. Smith. “We are certain that the same benefits that our lifesaving TASER technology has provided to the law enforcement community here in the U.S. and Canada will translate overseas to the Singapore Police Force,” concluded Mr. Smith.

The orders received totaled over $675,000. All orders are expected to ship in the first quarter of 2005.
