Question: While switching users in XP I lose my Internet connection. A popup window used to asked if I wanted to stay connected, but now this window does not appear. Is there some way I can have the RAS stay connected?
Thanks,
Sam
Carey’s Answer:
Hi Sam,
You will need to edit your registry to resolve this problem.
- Click Start, click Run and type REGEDIT and hit Enter (or click OK)
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Winlogon
- Right-click an empty space in the right-hand pane, and from the menu
- Select New > String value
- Name the new value KeepRASConnections (it’s important that you use upper and lower-case letters exactly as shown)
- Right-click the KeepRASConnections value, and choose Modify from the menu
- Enter 1 as the Value data
- Close the registry editor
Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.
Hope this helps! Thanks for writing,
Carey
