Steve Rubel’s First Podcast

Sunday morning is a great time to listen to podcasts, new discoveries as well as a favourite or two as I sip my cuppa …

(Dave Winer’s Morning Coffee Notes is a great accompaniment with the first cup of tea).

This morning, I’ve listened to one new one – Steve Rubel’s first podcast which he recorded on Saturday night (Steve says “Friday July 2” but I think he means Saturday).

Steve spends much of the 12-minute recording talking about RSS from the PR and marketing perspectives. He also comments on reactions and critiques on a couple of his recent posts.

It’s no surprise to me that Steve has started a podcast. It’s a great example of how anyone can employ this medium to leverage a niche brand (Micro Persuasion). But not only that – the leverage also extends to the podcaster where that person is regarded within his or her profession as a leader in that profession and, therefore, a must-listen.

Riding on such things, I’m pretty sure this first podcast will be received well by those who read Steve’s blog as well as by the clients of his PR firm, whatever the content is.

No doubt Steve will receive lots of suggestions for future editions. All I plan to say here is that I like this podcast, especially the informal and relaxed conversational nature. Even though it’s not a conversation as it’s just Steve talking, it seems like a conversation – one of the reasons I enjoy listening to Dave Winer on a Sunday morning, for instance. This will likely set the scene for what we can expect in future podcasts.

Great job, Steve!
