Sports Search Engine Hopes To Score

Sports search engine Enth has partnered with sports information provider Stats to add data to their search engine.

The deal will provide Enth with real-time data during the Major League Baseball and National Football League seasons.

The site is in Beta and on their welcome page it says,” Traditional search engines crawl and index words from web pages scattered throughout the Internet. Enth, on the other hand, indexes information stored in databases, providing a mechanism to locate and extract information from these data sources. Enth provides a search-like experience to an entirely new set of data sources.”

The site says it is different because it does not direct searchers to Web pages “that may or may not answer the question.”

Enth says they will create new content to respond to a search request.

“By partnering with STATS, we combine the premier source of sports data with our state-of-the-art technology to create a unique, extremely user-friendly search engine that will change the way in which we search for sports statistics,” said Enth founder John Grace.

“As we grow and evolve, we envision Enth’s technology revolutionizing the manner in which information is found via the Internet.”

While the site is in beta, they could really use some expansion if they want to be a true sports search engine not just limited to NFL and MLB.

They have a section for NCAA sports but the results were only football focused.

Just by adding college basketball stats they would be doing themselves a huge favor, especially this time of year.

The results they do have are thorough. They also have a wagering feature, which will be popular with the gambling crowd.

The look of the site is generic and plain but again they are in beta so I would imagine they would be making improvements.

One notable fact is that Stats, the company that Enth partnered with is jointly owned by the Associated Press and News Corporation.

For Enth that is a solid partnership to be a part of.
