SigmaTel mixed-signal integrated circuits today reiterates its commitment to the portable electronics market.
Through a tablet PC design win with Motion Computing, SigmaTel C-Major codecs provide high quality audio and advanced audio features for highly mobile work environments.
The M1400 tablet PC offered by Motion Computing provides features that allow mobile professionals to be productive while on the go. The SigmaTel STAC9758 C-Major 6-channel audio codec drives the audio subsystem and enables unique audio features specifically needed in ultra mobile environments.
Motion Computing Speak Anywhere technology provides advanced voice input and recording capability. With the SigmaTel audio codec and Knowles Acoustics’ IntelliSonic Speech Enhancement Software, the M1400 offers dual-array microphones built into the screen bezel, providing echo cancellation, background noise suppression and more. As Voice-Over-IP (VOIP) grows in popularity and as wireless networks become more numerous and robust, systems such as the Motion tablet will provide a more economic and efficient method for audio communication for the highly mobile worker.
“SigmaTel’s expertise and its commitment to the portable electronics market are being shown once again through this tablet PC product,” says Phil Pompa, vice president and general manager for SigmaTel’s Integrated Components Group. “As the number one supplier of portable MP3 controller chips to the consumer electronics market and as the number one supplier of audio codecs to the notebook PC market, SigmaTel solutions are now enabling a new class of mobile worker products.”
“SigmaTel understands the requirements needed for ultra mobile electronics and computing,” said David Altounian, Motion Computing chief product officer. “The SigmaTel audio codec is a key component in our award-winning M1400 tablet PC Speak Anywhere audio system.”
Professional environments that are ideal for the M1400 include healthcare, education, field force automation and government, including military. An example of improved productivity includes dictations by a doctor while accessing a patient’s records while on a house call. Whether on the road or the battlefield, technological barriers are being taken down through portable, power-efficient, functional devices such as the M1400 tablet PC and the STAC9758.
