Yahoo UK & Ireland has signed a deal with ITV, in which ITV’s sites will feature a Yahoo search box at the top of each page, and will allow users to search within the ITV site, or across the web.
Each site will also feature sponsored search listings from Overture on the results pages and on the sites in the form of contextual ads.
“The integrated approach will be setup within the look and feel of each ITV section and searches will be tailored to our user profile and habits to ensure optimisation and relevancy,” said ITV online sales account manager Jeremy Rosenberg. Julia Pearlman of Brand Republic reports:
Yahoo! will also include all of ITV.com’s online content through its content acquisition programme to ensure that Yahoo! UK & Ireland users will benefit by being able to find information about their favourite television programmes.
Yahoo has just announced that its profits are up to $755m (430m), however shares slid 10% as analysts voiced disappointment with second-quarter results.
“This agreement demonstrates the growing strength of out search technology, as well as our commitment to work with partners to deliver compelling search user experiences,” commented Rob Jonas, head of business development at Yahoo! Search, UK & Ireland. “This should be the first of what we hope will be many agreements with popular online properties.”
Yahoo’s pages will start to contain links and programming info from ITV. Aside from other online properties as Jonas mentioned, we’ll probably see more features come out of the partnership with ITV.
