SAP AG has made public the first on-demand/on-premise customer relationship management (CRM) suite. Dubbed SAP CRM 2006s, the software was announced at SAPPHIRE ’06, the company’s international customer conference.
SAP is the self-proclaimed world leader in business software.
SAP CRM 2006s has the potential to substantially increase the company’s foothold, and as it was unveiled, the corporation simultaneously released plans to move the entire CRM suite to a hybrid model by 2007.
The new software promises industry-specific capabilities, along with full Web service-enabling, which should allow for integration with SAP and non-SAP systems. Doug Moore, senior vice president of sales of Fujitsu Network Communications, endorses the product, saying, “This was the perfect answer to helping us address immediate demands while leaving us open to an in-house suite deployment later.”
To Shai Agassi, president of the Product and Technology Group and member of the executive board, SAP, this means the company has accomplished its goals. “SAP is innovating its CRM offering with customers’ strategic business benefits in mind.”
Speaking of the future, Agassi added, “By taking our entire CRM offering to the hybrid deployment model by 2007, we give our customers the ability to focus on their success with customers while we in turn see to it that the CRM application is integrated with backend systems and flexibly deployable in exactly the way the company benefits the most from it.”
SAP is generally thought to be leading the CRM market. Aside from its wide reach (according to the company, its systems are used by 33,000 customers in 120 countries), this new software and the promised hybrid shift represent important changes in the industry.
In addition, the soon-to-be-released Duet program, created through a partnership with Microsoft, promises to increase SAP’s general compatibility and reach.
SAP is proving to be an important company to watch.
