I reviewed the site of www.sandists.com. Some comments about it:
Like many, I have a screen resolution of XGA (1024 x 768). Without scrolling I can not see what you are offering. Normally I would skip the text block above the picures. Generally make a design that avoids scroll bars. For example the shirt background color selection is aligned vertically and I must use the scroll bars. Tile the image into two stacks.
Avoid tips like this “Browse throuh the design pages below…”, the reader knows how to surf.
Most of the readers have Internet Explorer and I beleve that it runs also on Netscape and Opera, so remove the “other browser page” and remove the “refresh page”.
I suggest that you put an image of a whole t-shirt with a special design in the top area so the user may not scroll to see what you are offering
Remove the “logo designed by…”
The order of actions of a potential customer is “I want a t-shirt” and then “I want to order” rather than “I want to order” and then “I want a t-shirt”. So put all oder info and links below any t-shirt design.
The fact that you offer custom-specific designs is better placed as a further image in your collection with a text like “your design”
FAQ section is good
The red ball bullets look very ancient
As a reader, I’m interested in a photo of your manufacturing. If the reader can see something like “hand made” he/she accepts a higher price.
There are too many animated gif-images. It looks not serious.
