Restaurant Review Site Brings Little To the Table

Another restaurant review site has launched billing itself as an online personalized review guide that will provide a smarter way to find restaurants. The site called BooRah launched at the DEMO 07 a conference for new products, technologies and companies.

BooRah will allow users to choose from restaurants organized by their specific preferences. Reviews are compiled from bloggers, professional critics and consumers. The company has plans to incorporate reviews on a wide range of additional businesses.

“BooRah is the only site that actually transforms the millions of online reviews on the Web into easily understandable summaries and in-depth ratings,” said Eric Moyer, co-founder and CEO of BooRah. “Further, BooRah enables consumers to personalize their search with highly specific criteria; connecting users with the information they desire as well as that which they did not even know existed.”

The site itself is still in beta and only has reviews of restaurants in San Franciso, New York and Los Angles. One can only assume that they will expand their review inventory to include the rest of the country over the remainder of the year.

With sites like zagat, dinesite.com and fodors it’s hard to see any uniqueness that BooRah will bring to the table. Pun intended.

One area that is interesting is the sites plans to branch out to review other businesses that are not in the restaurant industry. It’s not clear what types of businesses they would be focused on.

In fairness it is probably too early to judge how effective the site will be when it comes to finding that perfect dining experience. With a variety of sites doing a similar thing it would seem to be a feast or famine situation.
