Problem With Technorati Ping Service

Technorati, the real-time search engine and authority on what’s going on in the world of weblogs seems to have a problem with it’s Ping service.

I recently discovered (while adding tags to my posts) that our most recent post listed on their system is from over 150 days ago. Even after logging into my Technorati account and sending pings manually for the past 2 weeks to try to rectify the problem, the system is still showing old posts and indicating that my blog hasn’t been updated in quite a while.

This problem has been evident for some time, as further investigation into our logs also revealed that the Technoratibot (the spider used to crawl your blog) has not visited our site for over 5 months. The last visit was December 2005, even though my blog is claimed and configured to automatically ping Technorati after each new post using Ping-o-Matic.

Not all blogs are affected by this problem as they’re still showing new posts on their search results. However, if you find that your blog has not been crawled by Technoratibot or your recent posts are not showing on their system, even after a ping, I would suggest you contact their support department.

I sure Technorati’s Technical Team are working on this problem as I speak, so hopefully, it should be resolved soon.

Have a great weekend!
