PlayStation Pornable Er Portable

Sony’s getting a little steamed as certain software manufacturers steam up the screen of their PSP gaming console with adult content. Sony finds the practice undesirable. I just hope they don’t offer their 1998 Godzilla remake, talk about obscene.

That’s the problem when you open license your products. You have no real control over content or very limited control at best. Even though Sony has absolute control over games for this PSP, they don’t have any say so about the movies. This means we can say beheading and maiming and blood flying in all directions but they would prefer limited T and A.

PlayStation Pornable… Er… Portable

These movies are being put on Sony’s new Universal Media Disk (UMD) format. The format hold about 1.8 gigs a disk which means on could easily put a feature length adult film on of these little disks.

A number of interesting titles have arisen for these movies being played on the PSP. Titles like “The Nurse of a Big Breast,” “High Grade Class First Soap Lady,” and “Erotic Terrorist Beautiful Body” from the Japanese erotica company Glay’z should sufficiently appeal to its audience prurient interests. Due to certain rules of the company, this writer was unable to more thorougly research the titles for a higher quality review of said materials.

Right now, while games are region free for the PSP, movies are not. So while some may try to order these movies via various Internet services, they wouldn’t work on PSPs sold in the U.S.

Glay’z got the idea for the adult entertainment side after Playboy magazine offered downloadable content from their online offerings for the PSP, which followed on the success of their downloadable content for the iPod. Playboy’s online CyberClub offered users some content for free but for the buff stuff, membership in the club is required.

Sony shouldn’t too worried about things though. Something like this should only improve sales and hopefully we could soon see the Jenna Jameson or Tera Patrick editions of the PSP.

As more mainstream movies get added into the catalogs for the PSP, one can only expect to see adult content to flow into usage as well as adult entertainment has long been a driving force behind home electronics development and Internet technology.
