Omniture today announced that America Online has selected Omniture’s state-of-the-art hosted web analytics solution SiteCatalyst to provide analytics across all of AOL’s worldwide properties and services.
AOL, in an effort to provide the best experience possible for users and advertisers, evaluated many web analytics solutions for integrating the various facets of its online business. After reviewing many vendors, including WebSideStory, and WebTrends, AOL chose Omniture’s SiteCatalyst. SiteCatalyst provided real-time, actionable data from every corner of the business, yet was user friendly enough to be adopted by a variety of job functions and user levels across the company. Additionally, only SiteCatalyst allowed for the integration of both external data — aggregated attributes such as pricing plans and download times — and real-time usage information within one solution for an enterprise view of activity and segments.
According to Eric Eichmann, senior vice president, inventory, planning and operations at AOL, “After an in-depth review, it was clear that Omniture had the proven experience in supporting the needs of an enterprise of AOL’s size and diversity while respecting the stringent privacy standards in the AOL Privacy Policy. Omniture’s SiteCatalyst is sophisticated, customizable, highly scalable and will help us raise the bar in providing users with the best online experience and partners with critical real-time feedback and analysis.”
“AOL is a leader in recognizing that the power of analytics extends far beyond measuring shopping carts on retail sites. There are much more crucial metrics to be considered — like how the interaction of their various online products leads to customer conversion and retention,” said Josh James, chief executive officer at Omniture. “When you consider that AOL is a microcosm of the Internet, we are sending a very powerful message to companies of all sizes that the on-demand delivery available from application service providers (ASP) is mature and ready for prime-time.”
