Among the seven new models announced by the leading handset maker include a couple that support AAC format sound files.
Calling the new arrivals “Simple Pleasures,” Nokia has announced seven new mobile phones at its Connection events in Helsinki and Singapore, according to a press release.
And one of the phones, the model 6270, features a built-in music player. The player supports formats like MP3 and AAC, the default file format for music purchased through Apple’s iTunes Music Store.
The 6270 also features a 2 megapixel camera and a visual radio client onboard. It has a 320×240 screen and will be a quadband GSM phone. The phone should begin shipping in the fourth quarter.
Also, the model 6265 will have a built-in music player and FM radio. This phone will work on CDMA networks and support MP3, AAC, and eAAC+ files. For storage, the phone will accept miniSD cards capable of up to 1GB capacity.
The 6265 will also have a 2 megapixel camera, and would be available in the fourth quarter of this year. Five other phones, ranging from entry level models to a high-end model capable of VGA video and real-time video sharing, will debut in the third or fourth quarters.
“Today’s launches showcase Nokia’s commitment to offer consumers easy-to-use mobile phones in a variety of desirable designs – regardless of cellular technology,” explains Kai istm, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia.
“Whether it features WCDMA, GSM or CDMA internal circuitry, or whether it offers mobile music, mobile photography or 3G services, a handset must be easy to use in order to bring tangible benefits to consumers. Simplicity is the key for technology to enrich peoples’ lives.”
