Nokia Launches New Music Service In The UK

Nokia announced today that it is set to introduce its new music offering Comes with Music in the UK on October 16.

Nokia said Carphone Warehouse will be the exclusive retailer in Britain for the first Comes with Music model, which will sell for $230 and includes a Nokia 5310 XpressMusic handset.

The price includes one year of unlimited access to a catalog of two million songs from the Nokia Music Store.

The company reached publishing deals with major record labels including Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music, Warner Music Group and EMI.

Songs can be downloaded directly to the mobile or PC and music can be kept on the handset or PC for an unlimited amount of time. After the one-year subscription period has expired, customers can keep all of their music.  After that customers will have the option to sign up for another unlimited access subscription to access new songs or they can purchase single tracks from the Nokia Music Store.

Nokia plans to launch its Comes with Music service next year in the United States.

“Comes With Music sets a precedent for consumer value and convenience that the rest of the digital entertainment industry is already copying,” said Tero Ojanpera, executive vice president and head of the Nokia entertainment and communities business.

“Trying out a music recommendation is spontaneous as customers can download without worrying about the cost of an album or a track. And Comes With Music gives you unlimited access to the millions of tracks in the Nokia Music Store and the music is all yours to keep.”
