Network Systems Design Conference Has “Sexy Expanded Focus”

What’s it like to be the only show focused exclusively on networking system design? It’s like being on top of the world.

The 2004 Network Systems Design Conference (formerly the Network Processors Conference), being held October 19-21 in San Jose, Calif. at Parkside Hall, is ready to show off its brand new name and its sexy expanded focus. OK, “sexy” may be a bit strong, but it will definitely be interesting.

“The networking industry has been in hibernation for the past few years, but it’s finally emerging from the cave,” said Linley Gwennap, conference program chairperson and principal analyst of The Linley Group. “We’re seeing a burst of system-design activity seeded by the availability of powerful, easy-to-use networking chips and new interface standards. The Network Systems Design Conference is a great place to learn about these new developments and get a leg up on the competition.”

Conference presentations will include discussions on the following topics:

— algorithmic search engines

— Layer 7 security processors

— WLAN switching

— 10 Gigabit Ethernet chips

— next-generation Sonet chips

— switch fabric standards

— communications processors

— XML accelerators

— designing with FPGAs

— storage networking chips

— high-speed control-plane processors

— and of course, hardware and software for network processors

The conference’s shining new scope includes presentations, tutorials and panels that those who design, use, make, support and market network systems will really dig. More than 1,500 attendees are anticipated, and participating companies include Intel, EZchip Technologies, AMCC, Freescale Semiconductor, Cypress Semiconductor, IDT, TeraChip, Fulcrum Microsystems, Xelerated, Teja Technologies, Hifn, Altera, Xilinx, LSI Logic, Micron Technology, Toshiba, Fujitsu Microelectronics, Bay Microsystems, Agilent Technologies, Denali Software, Rambus, Intoto, PMC-Sierra and PLX Technology. Media and analyst sponsors include Lightwave, Chip Design and The Linley Group. For more information and a full list of sponsors and exhibitors, visit www.networksystemsdesign.com.
