MySpace Reveals Advertisers for MySpace Music

In my write-up about the upcoming MySpace Music the other day, I had to leave a question mark in the “advertisers” section, because it was unknown who would be advertising as MySpace Music launched. Rumor has it that MySpace Music will launch on Thursday the 18th, and MySpace has now let the advertising cats out of the bag. The company issued a release listing the initial advertisers for the launch. They are:

– McDonald’s

– Sony Pictures

– State Farm

– Toyota

McDonald's McDonald’s will be sponsoring a variety of free song downloads, and will have a presence on the MySpace Music personal music player. Sony Pictures will be hyping up the upcoming film “Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist” appropriately by skinning MySpace Music user profile playlists. State Farm will appear on a variety of aspects of the site in rotation in the “featured playlist,” the personal music player, and the “MyMusic” section where members can create and edit their own playlists.

ToyotaToyota’s approach will be a bit different with “Toyota Tuesdays” where the company will offer free downloads and have ads featured on the personal music player on Tuesdays for an entire year. The company will also be featured on the “Featured Playlist” page.

Although not everyone agrees with me, I think MySpace Music is going to be really big, and its advertisers stand to do just as well as all of the other parties involved with this site. Such huge, solid brands advertising at the launch will probably inspire other big names to jump aboard as well, and really fuel the financial part of this thing. I’m just ready for it to launch so I can check out this huge catalog of music – the entire SonyBMG, Warner Bros, and Universal catalogs! It will be just a few more days from the sound of it.
