Dear Carey,
My monitor will not work. How can I find out what is wrong when I cant see anything?
Thanks.
If your monitor is not displaying a picture, there could be several reasons. First, check to see that all of your cables are plugged in tight. If you monitor displays a power light, it should glow yellow when there is no signal from the PC, and green when there is a signal.
To determine if your monitor is bad, try borrowing a monitor from a friend, or taking your PC to their place and see if your PC works on a different monitor. If it does, you’ll need to fix ir replace your monitor. If it does not, then the problem is with the PC.
A PC that will not display video, but does power on, usually has a bad video cardhowever, this symptom can also be caused by a bad motherboard (check for leaking capacitors – see my web-site at www.careyholzman.com for more info), bad processor or bad memory.
Good luck!
Carey
