McCain Campaign Stops For MySpace, MTV

Following appearances by Democratic Presidential hopefuls John Edwards and Barack Obama, John McCain will participate in a campus dialogue hosted by MTV and MySpace.

McCain Campaign Stops For MySpace, MTVDespite his unbreakable support for the war in Iraq, McCain has been viewed as something of a maverick candidate for the Republican nomination. He does not toe the full party line on issues, which likely cost him the 2000 nomination against George W. Bush.

McCain will have the opportunity to try and revitalize a moribund campaign that has suffered in fundraising and staff defections by those who sense weakness in McCain’s White House aspirations. MTV said McCain will be their third dialogue participant, taking part in that in New Hampshire on December 3rd.

Particpation by News Corp’s MySpace will have the dialogue broadcast to users of that site. MTV plans to carry the television coverage, while its MTV Mobile streams McCain to cellphones. MTV’s ChooseOrLose.com will carry online streaming of the event too.

MTV said the previous dialogues with Obama and Edwards have been streamed 700,000 times. Almost 3.3 million have watched them on MTV. Online viewers will be able to submit questions to McCain during his appearance; they submitted over 12,000 questions to Edwards and Obama for their events.
