Man in UK Sentenced for Facebook Slaughter

Back in February a man named Wayne Forrester murdered his wife Emma in cold blood (and a cocaine and alcohol-fueled daze) by stabbing her in the head and neck with a kitchen knife and meat cleaver. The reason he did this he said, was because she changed her Facebook profile to “single” shortly after he moved out of their home.

Today, Forrester was sentenced to life in jail, and ordered to serve a minimum of 14 years. BBC News reports:

The day before the murder, he called her parents and complained about his wife’s Facebook entry which he said “made her look like a fool”, the court heard.

In a statement to police Forrester said: “Emma and I had just split up. She forced me out.

“She then posted messages on an Internet website telling everyone she had left me and was looking to meet other men.

“I loved Emma and felt totally devastated and humiliated about what she had done to me.”

“The whole incident seemed a blur. I felt I was watching somebody else attacking Emma,” said Forrester according Mail Online.

This is one of the darkest stories involving social media that I have ever heard. It makes you wonder how many psychopaths are really out there reading profiles. It is mind-boggling how something as simple as a change in profile status could set off such a gruesome affair. Emma was the mother of two children.
