Little Box of Dreams

We are so very busy these days that we don’t seem to have the time to make personal and career goals for ourselves. We have dreams and aspirations, but we don’t take the time to map out a plan to make them happen. We simply accept what life throws at us and settle for the mediocre. But it doesn’t need to be. We CAN change our future and with little effort.

Each year (at the same time). I take one afternoon for myself. I go somewhere quiet, where I will not be disturbed.

I take a legal note pad, a pen and my “little box”. Opening my little cardboard box, I take out a number of small pieces of paper that I had folded and placed in the box, one year ago. Written on each piece of paper, are my personal desires that I wished to accomplish during the past year.

Laughing at some (because they sound so silly today), but for the most part, I am amazed at what I discover….

The first time I did this exercise, I thought the idea was silly and a waste of time. But I went ahead and wrote out the items that I wanted to accomplish over the next year. It required some serious thought. The further I got into this exercise, the more seriously I took the exercise. Each desire is written as if it were already accomplished. I had written about twenty desires on my legal pad. I then looked over my desires and scratched off any that I considered too far fetched and any that may conflict with others on the list. Finally, I had 10 desires that remained on my pad.

I tear a sheet of blank paper into 10 equal size pieces and on each piece, I write one desire as if it were already accomplished. I read that desire over aloud several times as I close my eyes and visualize in my mind the accomplishment of that desire. I burn that image into my inner most being. Then I fold that piece of paper several times, then place it in my “little box” and then move onto the next desire, until all 10 pieces of paper are neatly tucked away into the box.

The “little box” is then taken to the closet and placed in the back of a tall closet shelf. Hidden away from sight.

365 days later, I take out my “little box” and read each peice of paper, amazed that most of my desires have become reality.

I was so impressed, that each year, I take one afternoon for myself and I write my desires for the next year. I place those “desires” into a small cardboard box and I release the “desires” from my mind and this sets into motion a chain reaction of circumstances and occurances that brings my dreams to reality.

Skeptical?

Get your “little box” and see for yourself…
