Nelson-Gal Joins the Interwoven R&D Team as Senior Vice President of Engineering.
Interwoven today announced that David Nelson-Gal, formerly vice president of software engineering at Sun Microsystems, will join Interwoven as senior vice president of engineering. In this position, Nelson-Gal will spearhead the day-to-day operations of Interwoven’s worldwide engineering teams, partnering with Interwoven’s CTO Rafiq Mohammadi.
A highly respected development executive with a long and successful track record, Nelson-Gal combines hands-on engineering expertise with proven leadership skills. During his 13-year tenure at Sun, Nelson-Gal played an integral role in the company’s development of innovative enterprise software technologies. His entrepreneurial spirit and evangelical drive helped speed market acceptance of new Sun initiatives as well as inspired field personnel to a high level of achievement. His broad experience includes overseeing Sun’s Next-Generation Datacenter operating environment, N1 Systems; leading Sun’s Availability Products Group, which includes Sun Cluster as well as Netra HA Suite, focused on high-end, mission critical solutions; as well as managing the C++ development environment and the Java technology group.

Nelson-Gal will take charge of the day-to-day operations of the company’s worldwide engineering teams effective immediately. CTO Rafiq Mohammadi will focus on the long-term direction of Interwoven’s products and solutions, including architecture development and merger and acquisition strategies. “By keeping our global engineering teams operating at peak performance, David will strengthen our focus on ECM solutions for businesses,” stated Mohammadi. “With David spearheading the daily operations of engineering, we will also be able to further advance our long term strategy, enabling our customers to realize the full benefits of their ECM investments for years to come.”

Prior to joining Sun Microsystems in 1991, Nelson-Gal led the development of real-time operating systems and embedded systems development environments at Ready Systems. He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
