Intel Goes Blogging

The chipmaker has stepped into another arena, that of corporate blogging.

But don’t look for CEO Paul Otellini listed in the quintet of Intel bloggers, though.

An engineer, a MBA grad, a cognitive psychologist, a physicist, and a computer science grad with a X-Files cameo to his credit all walked into the blogosphere.

It’s not a joke, it’s the IT@Intel blogger lineup.

The blog from the world’s top maker of PC chips debuted on October 9th, with posts from four of the five bloggers. But no posts were made yesterday, and so far none today. Not the way to build an audience, folks.

They have chosen Movable Type for their platform, over WordPress and other content management options.

A feed from the IT@Intel blog can be added to one’s feedreader, and they have made that feed available in RSS, Atom, and even in RDF.

Now that most of the introductions have been made on the blog (Martin Curley has yet to post), where will the Intel bloggers go next?

All but one are primarily scientists; Marty Menard is the MBA holder and is the director of the Platform Capability Group.

The Intel bloggers don’t seem to have extremely technical posts on their minds. Nathan Zeldes plans to write about Information Overload, while David Sward’s expertise rests in the measurement of ROI for businesses using technology.

They have the platform and the people, but now Intel will have to try and make posting a regular event.

Perhaps they will reveal some of the lighter side of Intel, like dartboards with AMD CEO Hector Ruiz’s face on the Intel campus, or snowboarding with Otellini at Yosemite.

Be sure to upload some photos, ok?
