Infotrieve, Inc., announced today the launch of its new federated search solution, ArticleFinder eXtreme (AFX), designed to deliver cost savings to special libraries by leveraging their existing resources. AFX can be integrated into Infotrieve’s Virtual Library technology platform, allowing users to simultaneously search their library’s holdings, subscription and public databases.
AFX has many features, including in-holdings checks to reduce duplicate orders, merging and sorting of results, automated user authentication for multiple databases, saved search queries as alerts, and usage reporting. It also allows for one-click LinkOut access to full-text articles in electronic collections, the exporting of citations directly into bibliographic citation managers ProCite(C) and EndNote(C), and integrated ordering through Infotrieve’s Virtual Library for documents not located in a library’s collections.
“The AFX federated search solution is ideal for organizations that utilize a large number of information databases, particularly those wanting to maximize the value of subscription-based databases,” said Edward W. Pastorius, Chief Operating Officer at Infotrieve. “AFX streamlines the searching and information retrieval process, saving companies money by leveraging technology to deliver a higher return on content assets.”
The Virtual Library enables libraries and information centers to have a customized document ordering environment with administrative price and spending limits controls, detailed usage reporting, and multiple configurations options for mediated or unmediated user access.
