How PPC Can Help This Music Site

I use Overture, Sprinks and Google Ad Words, and my main keywords are: the guess who, harry manx, valdy and randy bachman, to name a few. They are generating traffic but sales are very low. So low I haven’t bothered doing an ROI calculation. Your assessment would be most welcome.

Hi Tony:

Great site – it’s very rare that I come across a site as well done as this. Kudos!!!

From what I can tell, you’re missing many keywords that would drive more qualified people to your site. You need to have as many relevant keywords as possible. Some of those words may only get a few clicks a week — but if you add up 2 clicks a week for 100 words, that’s an additional 800 clicks a month, at a very cheap price. You can qualify the people coming into your site with your Title & Description. It also provides branding and recognition – everywhere they look they find you!

Sometimes using a single keyword with the properly worded Title and Description will also work — such as “music” or “cd”. You may get irrelevant clicks but that needs to be part of the trade off. Many of the best keywords I have found by constantly searching and others, months into a campaign.

Neal,

Thank you for your comments on my site. I spent most of yesterday adding keywords to my accounts with Google Ad Words and Overture. Another of my concerns has been the number of clicks from the sponsored link at Google for searches on “the guess who” by people who don’t buy any product. The ad specifically states what is for sale. But I guess I’m up against a few obstacles, namely fear of using credit cards online and dealing (for Americans) in a foreign currency.

Tony:

Here’s a suggestion – perhaps you already figured it out — put only one word in a group. That way you can customize the ad just for that specific keyword. Unfortunately, Google doesn’t give you much area to be creative. I also find Google to be much more expensive than Overture. I don’t like the fact that you have very little control of your bidding price and ad position on Google.
