Google WebSearch Combines AdSense And Search

Google announced today a new addition to their search engine tool set for websites and webmasters.

The service, called Google WebSearch, combines Google’s search technology with Google’s AdSense program. Webmasters will be able to incorporate WebSearch into their websites, giving the visitors the ability to search without leaving the site.

According to Google’s description, “with WebSearch, visitors can search the web from your site. Through AdSense, ads targeted to users’ searches are shown next to results.” Not only will contextually relevant ads appear with the search results, but Google is also going to share the revenue generated from ad clicks with the web publisher.

Another added feature, site-flavored Google Search, will give users the ability to tailor the look of the SERP. Google is allowing webmasters to “customize the look and feel of WebSearch to make it an extension of your site. Pick our standard Google search box and search results for a quick start.”

“Or, take a few minutes to do some customization. Add your logo and match the search results to your site by changing the colors of the background, title, text, URL and more. There are more than 200 colors to choose from.”

WebSearch services have been and still are employed by “Amazon, AOL, AT&T Worldnet, EarthLink, the New York Times, NEC BIGLOBE and T-Online.”

AOL claimed that Google’s WebSearch helped increase their traffic by 33%. Finally, according to an email we received at murdok, “websites in English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish are eligible for the program.”
