Google’s click-to-play video ads are spreading to China, thanks to CDC. That’s “CDC” as in “CDC Corporation,” mind you, not “Centers for Disease Control.” The business entity describes itself as a “leading global provider of Enterprise Software Solutions to medium and large enterprises.”
In terms of Google’s click-to-play video, CDC Corporation’s “portal business unit” intends to enter it into “in the China market via the China.com’s English Channel.” There, “Google’s click-to-play video ads will be accessible to both large and small advertisers and will provide brand advertisers with a richer and more engaging format to communicate their messages.”
Fang Donglei, the acting COO of China.com, commented on the deal in the official press release. “Google’s click-to-play video ads and China.com English Channel working together represent a significant opportunity in servicing the needs of the foreign community in China,” he said.
Donglei then hinted at future developments, saying, “The introduction of Google’s click-to-play video ads to China.com reflects the success of the first stage of our partnership. We will continue to provide access to the massive China audience sought by Google and in turn, provide the leading technologies from Google and other industry-leading partners in the world to our users.”
Gaining another foothold in the huge Chinese market is an impressive accomplishment on Google’s part. The company is surely crossing its fingers, though, and hoping that no more public relations/human rights mishaps come as a result of this deal.
