Google TV Ads Moves Forward With MSNBC

Google TV Ads is on a roll.  About 15 days ago, the division struck a breakthrough deal with CNBC, and there was official talk of partnerships between it and MSNBC, Oxygen, and SciFi moving forward “in the coming months.”  Now the MSNBC arrangement’s been made, and advertisers have gained access to an enormous audience.Google Tv

A post on the goofily named Let’s Take It Offline blog explains, “[A]s a result of our partnership with NBC Universal Google TV Ads advertisers can reach over 91 million households who watch MSNBC.”

The post then continues, “To access this inventory, simply log into your AdWords account and begin by creating a new campaign.  On the ‘Target campaign’ page, choose MSNBC as a target network.  Next, upload your ad, making sure it meets all recommended technical requirements.  Then, once you set the CPM and budget, you’ll be entered into the auction.  After your ad plays, we will give you detailed reports that measure number of impressions, CPM and audience retention for each ad airing.”

This development seems pretty well-timed.  Judging by the Dow’s value, we’re still very much in a recession, but since it hasn’t taken any 500-point dives in a while, advertisers will perhaps be willing to try a few new things.

For that matter, it appears that TV networks are willing to experiment, as well.  It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for the next Google TV Ads deal to be sealed.
