Google Seen As Perfect Employer In Europe

Well, it’s (more or less) official: should Google ever decide to take over the world, most of us will be willing to aid it.  The results of a new study confirm that, in certain European circles, the search engine giant is regarded as an ideal employer.

This comes after Google won that status in both America and South Korea (hence my taking-over-the-world exaggeration); it seems as if a recent spate of negative publicity didn’t hurt the company at all in this respect.

The Reuters article does, however, state that the European survey involved “engineering and IT students,” which might lead some to believe that working at Google is only a geek’s dream.  I maintain that this is not the case – the runners-up in this competition were Porsche and Ferrari, and there’s nothing nerdy about the F430.

So, back to the study.  “Nearly 17 percent of the 8,100 engineering and IT students polled across 100 European universities between January and April selected Google as their dream place to work,” reports Reuters.

“Google was also a favourite ideal destination for European business students, who ranked it fourth,” the piece later continues.

As Google continues to expand, it will continue to hire.  We may never reach the “world domination” point, but if Google begins to give away Porsches and Ferraris (or at least plug-in Priuses) instead of bicycles, national governments had better watch out.
