Google Offers New Resource for Analytics Information

Google seems to really want to spread awareness about Google Analytics, and get more people to understand how to use all of its features. This is a good thing because analytics are obviously important for keeping your site’s performance up to its potential.

A couple weeks ago they announced a new Google Analytics Help Forum with participation from Google employees as well as top contributors, and seasoned analytics pros:

Google Launches Google Analytics Forums

Now they’ve launched a YouTube channel full of videos for analytics education. “If you’re looking for a beginner’s guide to interpreting and acting on your data, an introduction to motion charts, or you want to learn how perform placement targeting in 60 seconds, you can now find it at youtube.com/googleanalytics,” says Melissa Hsieh of the Google Analytics Team. “And, just to prove that we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we’ll add the occasional music video.”

“We’ll continue to listen for what you want to learn about and work on adding useful videos to the channel,” she added. “If you want to be sure that you always stay up to date, you can subscribe to the Google Analytics Channel or even add an iGoogle gadget to your homepage.”

Google Analytics users are probably going to want to keep their eye on this channel. As discussed repeatedly by people like Matt Cutts and Bruce Clay, search is going to be going through some big changes in the not-too-distant future, and analytics will be more important than ever as traditional SEO methods are harder to make use of.
