Google, Microsoft To Compete In Golden Penguin Bowl at LinuxWorld

In a move that can show off each competitor’s knowledge of open-source computing, both Microsoft and Google will be participating in the Golden Penguin Bowl quiz session at the upcoming LinuxWorld conference, which is scheduled for August 8-11 in San Fransisco.

Representatives from the competing companies will take part in the open-source quiz competition that takes place on August 9 at 4:30pm. News of Google and Microsoft’s participation was featured in a press release located at TCMNet.com.

Google, Microsoft To Compete In Golden Penguin Bowl At LinuxWorld Not only does Microsoft plan to take part in the quiz portion of the conference, but they will also lead one of the sessions, which discusses using Linux in a mixed environment. The session is titled, “Managing Linux in a mixed environment…at Microsoft?: A look inside the Linux/Open Source Software lab at Microsoft,” and will be hosted by Bill Hilf, Director of Platform Technology Strategy at Microsoft.

Not to be outdone by Microsoft, Google is also participating in session titled, “The Explosive Growth of Linux and Open Source: What does it all mean?” Google Open Source Programs Manager Chris DiBona will be one of the panel’s keynote speakers.
