Google Earth May Solve Murder

Police in Melbourne, Australia are scrutinizing satellite images to see if a murder suspect was caught on film dumping a woman’s body in the front yard of a house.

Google Earth May Solve Murder

Detective Senior Sergeant Jeff Maher said a van had been tracking the area for Google Earth over the past week and could provide valuable clues. “Google Earth has made satellite images of the area over the past week,” Detective Maher said. “It’s new technology and we might get something out of it.”

Police have not yet been able to identify the woman but think she is of Asian origin and between 20 to 30 years old. The body was found by a man and a friend working in the homes overgrown garden.

“The house owner found the body dumped in the front yard of his house wrapped in garbage bags,” Detective Maher said. “The owners were there on Monday night. We believe she’s been probably dumped here overnight in the dark hours.”

Besides examining footage from Google Earth, Detective Maher said information shared with Crime Stoppers is helping police with their investigation, while they are also checking on other “promising ” leads.
