A selection of improvements to Google Analytics have been put in place as Google continues to invite more users to sign up for the free site analysis service.
Users of Google Analytics have probably noticed some of these changes already. For those who haven’t, the Google Analytics team has posted a recap of their recent accomplishments for the service.
Mac users will be happy to know that Analytics finally supports the Safari web browser. Other fixes improve how Analytics handles websites that generate dynamic content. The Site Overlay report has been re-enabled to work with those dynamic sites.
The Analytics team also shifted query terms to the Top Content report, their post said. A new Dynamic Content report has replaced the old Page Query Terms report as a result of this.
Users of Google Analytics who use filters for their reports can set the order for those filters to be applied; it’s available from a link on the Profile Settings page. Also, accounts can be renamed, and the time zone changed in Profile Settings.
When Google Analytics launched (it’s the free version of Google’s Urchin site analysis tool), its availability as a free service proved too enticing, and overwhelming demand for the service forced Google to shut down the open signups and switch to an invitation model.
In their blog post, the Analytics team noted they continue to ship out new invitation codes regularly, enabling new users to sign up for the service.
