Glazer Aims To Put United in The Goal

Malcolm Glazer, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers began his bid for ownership of the Manchester United football (soccer) team. The $1.48 billion deal will give him complete ownership of the team.

Glazer’s firm Red Football Ltd. bought shares from belonging to the Cubic Expression Company to take up his share holdings and then made the bid this week. With Glazer owning nearly 150 million shares, this allowed him to make his bid for the team.

The Manchester United are part of the Premiere League. They’ve been one of the top teams in the league winning 15 championships although they’re currently in 3rd place behind Chelsea and Arsenal. The league is marked as the wealthiest in the world because of their distribution and merchandising profits.

What About The Fans

Fans of the popular football (soccer) team are up in arms. The BBC reported fans were told to burn their season ticket renewal forms as an act of defiance but no official numbers of protesters were reported.

UPI said:
Supporters are concerned about the level of debt involved in Glazer’s bid and fear for the club’s future. Glazer also owns the NFL franchise of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fans should be aware that Glazer did fix the Buccaneers though. Tampa’s squad lumbered for years as one of the consistently worst teams in the NFL and when Glazer purchased the team, he built them into a power house with a Super Bowl ring and consistently tough play every year.
